Engstler takes delivery of 100th Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR

The 100th version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR has been delivered to its new owner – with the German manufacturer reaching the landmark figure just two years after launching the car.

A special event in Autostadt next to the Volkswagen factory saw the car handed over to Engstler Motorsport boss Franz Engstler by Volkswagen Motorsport Director Sven Smeets and the head of vehicle delivery at Autostadt, Sebastian Wilhelms.

Engstler was the man who took deliver of the first customer model of the Golf GTI TCR two years ago.

“The Golf GTI TCR tells a fantastic success story within the Volkswagen customer sport programme,” Smeets said. “Private customer teams successfully field the Golf GTI TCR in more than 15 different racing series all over the world.

“The Golf GTI TCR has already amassed twelve titles in international championships. To have now produced one hundred models in just two years is a great effort from our entire team.”
