Honda hit with full weight for Croft encounter

The Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCRs of Oliver Taylor and Finlay Crocker will run with the maximum possible compensation weight this weekend at Croft after the latest calculations, with Ash Sutton’s pole-setting and race winning performance last time out at Oulton Park tipping the scales in Volkswagen’s favour.

With the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs of WestCoast Racing and Maximum Motorsport struggling on full ballast around Oulton Park, the German manufacturer has been given a weight break this weekend, meaning any Volkswagens entered will be able to run at just 20kg of compensation weight, with the cars 50kg lighter than the Hondas overall after factoring in their -10kg TCR-set Balance of Performance weight.

It’s not yet clear how many Volkswagens will be entered, with WestCoast Racing yet to confirm their programme, with the Swedish racing team facing clashing commitments with the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship event at Rudskogen in Norway.

All other manufacturer models are able to run with no ballast whatsoever, making the lightest car in the field the Cupra TCR of Maximum Motorsport’s Stewart Lines.
