Dan Lloyd tops wet official practice at Croft

Dan Lloyd continued his domination of the penultimate round of the TCR UK championship at Croft by setting the fastest time in the official free practice session.

The WestCoast Racing driver set a time of 1:31.885 to top the wet session by nearly two seconds from Ollie Taylor’s Pyro Motorsport Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR.

The session was briefly red flagged after a tyre stack was dislodged at the fast Jim Clark Esses halfway in. Upon resumption, no real improvements came and Lloyd’s first representative time stood until the end.

Behind Tayor was Stewart Lines’ Maximum Motorsport Cupra TCR in third place. Lines set a time of 1:34.060, although he was a full 2.175 seconds slower than Lloyd.

Lloyd’s WestCoast team-mates Andreas and Jessica Bäckman following in fourth and fifth respectively; Andreas taking his Honda Civic Type R FK2 to a 1:34.061, just one-thousandth of a second behind Lines.

Jessica spent much of the session near the bottom of the standings in her Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR car but made a late surge to set the fifth quickest time, over two-and-a-half seconds adrift of Lloyd, but a half-a-second slower than brother Andreas.

Lewis Kent (Hyundai i30 N TCR) and Finlay Crocker (Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR, back after a gear elector problem stopped his warm up running) completed the top seven.

Darelle Wilson missed the session with broken splitter. His DW Racing team aim to repair it for qualifying before replacing it for tomorrow’s two races.

Qualifying is scheduled to take place at 16:30 BST.
