TCR Australia nearing completion of calendar and Supercars negotiations

TCR Australia is nearing completion of the calendar for their inaugural season in which negotiations with the Supercars championship are key.

“We are having ongoing discussions with Supercars about the calendar and we are hoping to finalise that in the coming weeks,” said series manager Matt Braid to Speedcafe.com.

Braid has confirmed that they plan to run six to eight rounds alongside Supercars and Shannons Nationals race weekends in 2019.

The Supercars organisers are currently awaiting further information from the TCR Australia organisers in terms of number of entries.

“The operation is finalising all the support category agreements. All of that work has been done in the background. I haven’t had any further update from either of those categories (TCR Australia and support single seater series S5000) about field numbers,” said Supercars CEO Sean Seamer.

TCR Australia has so far two confirmed entries for 2019 in the form of HMO Customer Racing that will run two Hyundai i30 N TCR cars.

“We’re 100 per cent ready to go in TCR. The cars have been ordered and they will be here. We will be on the grid,” said Dave Cameron of HMO Customer Racing.

“We’re now working to enlist the help of Hyundai Australia on the program. We’ve got the OK from Germany to go ahead as a customer racing partner.”
