Bathurst winner Jason Bright confirms TCR Australia programme

Bathurst winner Jason Bright has confirmed that he will compete in the inaugural TCR Australia championship season as part of his own two-car team.

Bright has agreed a deal to purchase two Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR cars from Team Engstler after a visit to the Sepang International Circuit and will enter the cars in the series under the Team Tradie banner.

The driver of the second Golf, and the final make-up of the team that will prepare the vehicles, will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Bright becomes the third driver in a matter of days – after Tony D’Alberto and Chris Pither – to confirm plans to join the TCR Australia championship grid when the season kicks off next month in Sydney.

“I’ve have been looking at the TCR Series for some time and it’s great to confirm that I will be driving in the series this year,” said Jason Bright. “The class is perfect for Australia. Affordable, competitive and relevant to the current motoring market. I really feel it’s going to be a great addition to the motorsport landscape.

“I went to Malaysia on the weekend and purchased the car that actually won the weekend. I know it’s got good form, so I can’t wait to get it to Australia, have a test and get ready for round one.”
