Jason Plato, Tom Ingram hit with race three penalties

Jason Plato and Tom Ingram have both been hit with penalties that impact on the result of the final BTCC race of the weekend at Snetterton.

Plato was involved in a heated battle for victory in the race with former team-mate Ash Sutton, which ended in dramatic fashion when the pair clashed at Brundle whilst embroiled in a three-way fight for the lead with eventual winner Rory Butcher.

Plato would be hit with a ten second penalty for contact with Sutton earlier in the race, whilst the Power Maxed Racing driver was also handed an additional five second penalty for contact with the Honda of Chris Smiley; penalties that drop him down to 17th place and outside the points.

Speedworks driver Ingram had come from the rear of the field to finish in a solid eighth place despite being on the hard compound tyre but was given a time penalty of 6.7s for overtaking under yellow flags when fighting to get ahead of Ollie Jackson’s Ford Focus.

The time drop puts him back behind the Motorbase man in the results, although he retains eighth by virtue of the penalty for Plato, with Jackson moving up from ninth to seventh.

Dan Cammish also now scores points for 15th place having originally missed out in his Team Dynamics Honda Civic.
