Hamish Ribarits to join Kelly Racing sqaud for Winton

Kelly Racing will have a new pilot about its second Holden Astra TCR this weekend as Hamish Ribarits joins the team for the Winton Raceway round.

The young Victorian will be replacing Alex Rullo who drove the #62 car in the first four rounds of the season on a limited contract deal, departing the team after Queensland Raceway.

It will be the second round of the inaugural TCR Australia series season which Ribartis has competed in after driving for the Melbourne Performance Centre squad at Phillip Island, scoring a podium in the process.

Currently sitting third in the Super3 championship this year, Ribarits spoke of the opportunity to drive again in TCR Australia as an exciting prospect.

“I’m really excited to join Kelly Racing and have a second round in the TCR Australia Series,” said Ribarits.

“Kelly Racing is one of the biggest racing organisations in Australia and they are very professional. They have obviously had some hurdles to manage with their initial TCR program, however, when the Astras have been fast, they are a genuine threat.

“We feel that the Astras are going to suit Winton, so we’re looking forward to getting in there and seeing how we can go.”

As Ribarits joins the team, he will join Andre Heimgarter in the other Astra while the two Subaru WRX STi TCR entries from the Melbourne based team will be driven by Molly Taylor and Bryce Fullwood.
