22 drivers complete evaluation day at Winton

22 drivers took part in an evaluation day after the TCR Australia series weekend at Winton Motor Raceway, sampling the TCR machinery of Audi, Alfa Romeo, Honda, Hyundai and Volkswagen.

“It was a great day for the category and a really good way for our teams to look at new drivers that are interested in TCR,” said Liam Curkpatrick, category manager of TCR Australia.

“There were quite a few media present too, so it shows that there is some positive intent for the class for next year and beyond. We had a good mix of young and experienced guys and girls drive the cars. I’m looking forward to seeing who lands with what teams in the future.”

Drivers taking part in the test mainly came from the support classes Formula Ford, Super3 and Hyundai Excels, but also including drivers from New Zealand in preparation for the TCR New Zealand championship that will start in 2020. Callum Hedge (Formula Ford), Josh Fyfe (Super3), Matt Powers (Super3), Luke King (Toyota 86) and Michael Clemente (Excels) were some of the drivers taking part in the test.

TCR Australia regulars James Moffat (Renault), Dylan O’Keeffe (Alfa), Jason Bright (Volkswagen) and Aaron Cameron (Volkswagen) were present during the test to aid the new drivers.
