Milldun Motorsport take over Subarus from Kelly Racing

The two Subaru WRX STi TCR machines which have been campaigned by Kelly Racing in the inaugural TCR Australia series will now be prepared by fellow Melbourne-based team Milldun Motorsport, marking the team’s debut in TCR competition.

Taking delivery of the two machines which were campaigned by Kelly Racing in the opening five rounds of the Australian championship, Milldun Motorsport will hit the track at the season finale round next month, held at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.

Though high hopes were initially placed on the two Subaru entries, driven by Supercars ace Andre Heimgartner and Australian Rally Champion Molly Taylor, reliability plagued Kelly Racing in the opening rounds, forcing the experienced team to focus their efforts on their pair of Holden Astra TCR cars instead.

Ahead of their first round, Milldun Motorsport’s owner, Liam Dunn, says it’s an exciting opportunity to be a part of TCR Australia and that he sees potential in the Japanese machines.

“It’s really exciting to be involved in the TCR Australia Series,” said Liam Dunn.

“There is a lot of potential in the Subarus and we are really looking forward to the challenge.

“The success that the category has had in its first year has been huge, and its something that we definitely want to be a part of.

“We’ve gone over the cars and, fundamentally, they are quite good. There is a lot of potential there and I can’t see that there’s any reason why they won’t be as quick as some of the other cars in the category.”

The TCR Australia final round will be held at South Australia’s The Bend Motorsport Park, the category’s second trip to the venue this year, and will take place from the 15th to 17th of November.
