Jason Bargwanna: “It’s very close, it’s good”

Jason Bargwanna made his first public TCR Australia series run during the pre-season test at Winton Raceway yesterday and praised the competitiveness of the field, with half a second covering the top ten.

“I was really happy with it, how we tuned up the car quite well on the old tyre. We put on a better tyre and it did a good time. It’s very close, it’s good,” said Bargwanna.

The Garry Rogers Motorsport driver, who was tenth fastest in the test, got valuable time in the car at Winton as they had been caught out by poor weather at Sandown earlier.

“We got a a couple laps at Sandown in the Peugeot a few weeks ago, but it rained, so put it in the truck and came home,” said Bargwanna.

The former Bathurst 1000 winner said the Peugeot 308TCR reminded him of when he was racing in the 2008 Mini Challenge Australia.

“I was able to start to explore where the grip is and it started to bring back memories of the old Mini days when I raced them around,” said Bargwanna.
