Sami Taoufik penalised for Mat’o Homola contact; Race 1 positions swapped

Comtoyou Racing’s Sami Taoufik has been given a two-second post-race penalty following the opening round of the TCR Europe series at Paul Ricard following contact with Mat’o Homola.

The Moroccan had finished eighth on the road ahead of Homola, but after an investigation by the stewards, those positions have been swapped.

Other incidents from the first race were also investigated by the stewards, with Brutal Fish Racing Honda driver Martin Ryba handed a three-place grid penalty, suspended for the rest of the season, after contact with Gilles Colombani’s Peugeot 308TCR on the opening lap.

Ryba suffered broken steering and retired as a result of the contact.

The race-ending contact between Ryba’s Brutal Fish Racing team-mate Pepe Oriola and Target Competition’s Jessica Bäckman was also investigated, but no further action was taken.
