Jack Young takes JAS development role

Jack Young has been named as the latest member of JAS Motorsport’s driver development programme ahead of the 2021 season.

Young, who contested a part season in WTCR last year in a Vukovic Motorsport Renault Megane, will work alongside JAS to develop his skills both on and off track with the opportunity to forge close relationships with JAS engineers as well as members of the Honda Racing driver line-up.

The Northern Irish racer joins Reece Barr and Jacopo Guidetti on the programme, with that pair both due to race the Honda NSX GT3 Evo during the year ahead.

Young meanwhile will continue his touring car education with a programme in a Honda Civic Type R TCR in a series that has yet to be determined.

“I’m thrilled to become a JAS Motorsport Development Driver,” he said. “It’s an incredible opportunity to develop myself as a professional racing driver on the track and off, and can only benefit me in my target to race for a manufacturer.

“I want to be as complete a driver as I can be on the track and off it and being a part of this will help me to achieve that – especially to learn more about the engineering side of things. I knew from the first time the scope of the programme was explained to me that this is what I needed at this stage of my career. I’m looking forward to what should be a really interesting season.”
