Callum Newsham bags pole for Brands Hatch finale

Callum Newsham emerged on top of the field to secure pole for the final rounds of the TCR UK Championship at Brands Hatch.

Newsham left it late in the session to set the time that would prove to be good enough for pole, just when it looked like Max Hall was going to stick his Honda Civic on pole having sat top going into the final minute.

Newsham’s time of 48.042s saw him go a tenth of a second quicker than Hall, with Harry Bloor going third fastest in his Civic Type R TCR, albeit nearly half a second off the overall pace.

Brad Hutchison’s Cupra was next ahead of the similar car of Rod McGovern, with Jenson O’Neill-Going in sixth being the final driver to manage a time within a second of the overall pace.

Russell Joyce and Barry-John McHenry rounded out the eight drivers who were able to post a time.

Missing from that list was championship leader Max Hart, who once again finds himself at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS this weekend.

Hart failed to set a time due to an engine issue, which means he will be at the back of the field for the second successive meeting.
