Jenson O’Neill-Going wins red flag-interrupted second Oulton race

Jenson O’Neill-Going won a hectic final TCR UK race of the weekend at Oulton Park, a race red-flagged and restarted due to a spectacular crash by Harry Bloor.

Power Maxed Racing driver O’Neill-Going started from the reversed grid pole and headed the field into Turn 1, with Max Hart making a strong start from fourth to snatch third from Brad Hutchison.

Bloor went off in spectacular fashion at the final corner of lap two in what seemed to be a brake issue, bringing the red flags out as the Honda driver walked away unharmed from the incident.

The race was restarted with a standing start and O’Neill-Going was immediately challenged by McGovern who managed to squeeze ahead heading into the chicane.

But the lead only lasted for a couple of corners before the Cupra driver went wide and dropped down a position.

And things went from bad to worse for McGovern who was hit by Hall who made a clumsy move into the hairpin.

Hall damaged his suspension and was forced to pit for repairs, dropping three laps on the leaders to finish seventh and last, while McGovern dropped to fifth.

Race 1 winner Callum Newsham passed Hutchison for third place on lap three after the restart.

The Hyundai driver then gained quickly on the leading duo of O’Neill-Going and Hart.

The trio fought hard for the lead, but the positions remained unchanged until the chequered flag fell.

O’Neill-Going won the race ahead of Hart who was demoted from second place on the road to fourth in the results as the Audi driver received a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits.

This elevated Newsham into second place and Hutchison to third.

McGovern came home in fifth ahead of Barry-John McHenry.

Next up is the season finale at Brands Hatch on November 1st.
