Harry Bloor makes it a double at Donington Park
Harry Bloor followed up his TCR UK debut win in Race 2 with a second consecutive win in Race 3 while the main title contenders struggled.
Brad Hutchison had a nightmare start to the race as he slowed on the formation lap and started from the pit lane.
Pole sitter Adam Shepherd made a lighting start and was well clear of Callum Newsham who had to defend second place from the Honda duo of Bloor and Max Hart.
But just as in the second race, Shepherd struggled in the early stages of the race and had to defend the lead from Newsham’s attacks.
Newsham’s attempt was however unsuccessful, instead allowing Bloor to go past for second place at the end of lap two, with Hart following suit a couple of corners later.
But Hart made a mistake, allowing Jenson O’Neill-Going to pass both of them for third place while Hart dropped down to sixth behind Newsham and Hall.
Audi driver Shepherd was next to make a mistake on lap four at McLeans, handing the lead to Honda driver Bloor.
Hall started to make progress on lap five, passing Newsham with some contact for fifth place.
O’Neill-Going had a tough race, making a mistake on lap eight which dropped him down to eighth place and started to slow down with a technical issue two laps later. The Honda driver then limped around the track for the remainder of the race to finish eleventh, two laps down on the leaders.
Disaster also struck points leader Newsham who suffered yet another puncture on lap 13, this time on his front-left tyre, forcing him to pit from fifth place and dropped down the order to finish 12th and last.
The same lap saw Hall passing Shepherd for second place at the final corner.
Carl Boardley suffered some kind of mechanical issue on the final lap with smoke pouring out of the front-right corner of his Honda. The Brit managed to complete the final lap without losing any positions to finish the race in fourth.
Bloor claimed his second career TCR UK win close to three seconds ahead of Hall, with Shepherd claiming the final podium spot.
Hart was a distant fifth ahead of Hutchison who recovered from his formation lap gremlins to finish sixth.
The next TCR UK race takes place at the GP layout of Donington Park on September 5-6.
