Jordan Cox retains GRM seat for 2022

Garry Rogers Motorsport has confirmed that Jordan Cox will remain with the team for a third season in 2022, albeit with a change of car in his bid to secure the TCR Australia title.

After a part campaign in a GRM-run Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce in 2019, Cox returned for a full campaign last year in the same car – taking double wins in the season opener at Symmons Plains and in the season finale at Bathurst en-route to third in the standings.

Cox will now switch from the Alfa Romeo to one of GRM’s Peugeot 308 TCR cars, with the team reported to be planning to drop the Giulietta for 2022 and focus solely on the Peugeot and Renault Méganes it ran alongside the Italian machine last year.

“I spent the day at Winton learning the new Peugeot as it is quite different to the Alfa Romeo I drove last year,” Cox said. “I can’t wait to spend the year in it, the Peugeot is a fantastic car and we’ll hit the ground running when we get to Tassie.

“Bring it on!”

GRM director Barry Rogers said he was confident that Cox would continue to be a front-runner despite the change of car.

“Jordan was very impressed with how refined the Peugeot was and he’s a front wheel drive expert,” he said, “so I think he’ll do a tremendous job in the Peugeot when the season starts.”
