Fabian Coulthard joins grid for Symmons Plains opener

Fabian Coulthard will make his TCR Australia debut in the opening round of the 2022 season in Tasmania after inking a deal to join Wall Racing.

Coulthard – who finds himself without a full-time drive this year after losing his Supercars seat following the sale of Team Sydney – will be at the wheel of a Honda Civic Type R for a one-off outing at Symmons Plains backed by Stan Sport, which will broadcast TCR Australia this season.

The 13-time Supercars winner will partner Tony D’Alberto for the season opener in what will be his first race meeting in a front-wheel drive machine.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to guest drive in TCR with the backing of Stan Sport,” Coulthard said..

“David [Wall’s] team is very professional and is the perfect way to sample what TCR is all about. I’ll be looking to get some tips from my old mate Tony D’Alberto and I’m excited to partner with him again.

“Although I lack experience racing a front-wheel-drive touring car compared to my rivals, it provides a new challenge for me.

“It’s great to be a part of the launch of the Stan Sport deal too. The more motorsport we have on our televisions is great news, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out over the next few years.”
