Comtoyou firms up World Tour entry with Huff, Vervisch

Comtoyou Racing has confirmed it will field two cars in the new TCR World Tour for the 2023 season, having inked deals with Frédéric Vervisch and Rob Huff.

The team had originally suggested it would run four cars in the series but has instead elected to focus on two Audi RS 3 LMS machines, with Vervisch making a full-time return to the line-up after spending 2022 running in the GT World Challenge.

The Belgian racer took second in the WTCR standings with Comtoyou back in 2021.

Huff meanwhile joins the team on the back of an impressive 2022 season where the former WTCC title winner was able to challenge for WTCR honours for much of the season despite only signing a last-minute deal with the Zengo Motorsport squad – which would then battle on with limited budget throughout the campaign.

“The TCR World Tour is, in a way, the continuation of our WTCR programme, but with a completely new formula since we will be joining existing championships,” propject leader Robin Van Hemelrijick said. “This world competition, which responds to the idea of “customer racing” wanted by TCR, really looks good with prestigious circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps, SanLuis, Bathurst or Macau, to name but a few.

“We will be sporting the official Audi Sport colours and we clearly want to take advantage of the experience we have gained in the two previous seasons with the Audi RS 3 LMS to aim for the Teams and Drivers titles.

“With Frédéric Vervisch and Rob Huff, we have two real title contenders. We are looking forward to some busy weekends when the TCR World Tour joins the TCR Europe, but we are ready for the challenge.”

Comtoyou will also run cars in TCR Europe in 2023.
