Will Brown dominates Race 1 at Queensland Raceway as rivals falter

There was no stopping Will Brown in the first TCR Australia race at Queensland Raceway, heading the field from lights to flag to win by over ten seconds.

The Audi driver’s main competitors hit trouble at the start as Bailey Sweeney, who had qualified second, suffered a technical issue which saw him starting from the pits and joining the field a lap down.

Lynk & Co driver Tim Slade stalled from fourth on the grid as the lights went out and dropped all the way down the order, ultimately finishing eleventh.

Wall Racing driver Tony D’Alberto (Honda) made the most of the other driver’s issues and finished second, with Zac Soutar closing in towards the end of the race. The Audi driver did however not get close enough and had to settle for third.

GRM driver Jordan Cox was involved in a close fight for third with Soutar earlier in the race, but wasn’t able to keep up and finished fourth.

HMO Customer Racing driver Josh Buchan finished fifth ahead of Ben Bargwanna who headed Peugeot colleagues Aaron Cameron and Kody Garland.

Cupra driver Michael Clemente was ninth while Honda privateer Brad Harris finished tenth, thus securing the reversed grid pole position for tomorrow.

The second race of the weekend starts at 12:45 local time/04:45 CEST on Sunday.
