TCR Australia set for biggest-ever entry with World Tour additions

The largest field of TCR cars ever seen in Australia will hit the track this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park for the first of two events as part of the TCR World Tour.

A total of 16 TCR Australia entrants will be joined by the top nine drivers from the TCR World Tour for the event, which forms the penultimate round of the Australian season – with the finale at Bathurst a week later.

The only change amongst the World Tour contingent is the confirmation that Néstor Girolami will join forces with local outfit Wall Racing for the two Australian events, a move that was revealed late last week when it was confirmed that the Argentine racer had agreed a deal to contest the final three meetings of the campaign.

Defending TCR Australia champion Tony D’Alberto will get to sample the new Honda Civic FL5 for the first time alongside Girolami with the team also running a pair of FK7 cars for brothers Brad and Will Harris. Brad will return after missing the event at Sandown, with Will making his series debut.

The other addition to the Australian regulars will see Jimmy Clairet at the wheel of a Peugeot 308TCR, before he hands the car over to brother Teddy for the event at Bathurst.

Bailey Sweeny will be bidding to retain his advantage in the standings, with a slender lead over HMO Customer Racing team-mate Josh Buchan and GRM racer Aaron Cameron.
