Michael Clemente out of TCR Australia due to lack of funds
Michael Clemente has announced that he will not be back in TCR Australia this season due to lack of funding.
“I love motorsport but it can be pretty cruel sometimes,” Clemente wrote on social media.
“Not what I want to share but we won’t be on the grid in TCR Australia for the first round and foreseeable future. We haven’t been able to secure the funding required, not due to the lack of trying but as most know it’s not an easy gig. ”
Clemente drove an Audi and a Cupra León Competición for Carl Cox Motorsport last year, finishing ninth overall with two wins.
“It was an amazing 2023 season, pole position, two wins and a second place finish,” said Clemente.
“It was some of the most fun I’ve had in a race car and definitely won’t forget those memories. I’d like to think what we achieved as privateers was something pretty special. Literal blood, sweat and tears went into this.
“Thank you Carl Cox for letting me race for you, it was an honour to do so and loved every minute of it. Thank you to each and every one of my partners who got me on the grid and helped channel my inner Lighting McQueen. And lastly thank you to my team, family and everyone who supported me, so much went into this and the support you guys gave me was incredible.”
