Both Australia races removed from 2024 FIA TCR World Tour calendar

The FIA TCR World Tour will not race in Australia this year, with the two planned races at Sydney Motorsport Park and Mount Panorama now removed from the calendar.

The reason for the decision is stated to be “delaying international deliveries around the globe in 2024 as a result of current international events”.

The Australian Racing Group issued the following statement today:

“WSC has advised ARG of its decision more than eight months ahead of the first scheduled Australian round, after forward planning highlighted the increasing challenges for Kumho FIA TCR World Tour teams to commit to sending multiple race cars and associated infrastructure to Australia.

“While understandably disappointed by the news, ARG remains committed, with the support of WSC, to delivering a TCR race of international significance at this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst International and ensuring Australian drivers have the opportunity to once again compete against elite level TCR drivers from around the world.”

The decision will also affect the 2024 TCR Australia calendar, with the round at Sydney Motorsport Park on November 1-3 no longer taking place.

The series will instead join the existing Shannons SpeedSeries Sydney round on 18-20 October. The Bathurst International round will remain unchanged for November 8-10.

WSC, the TCR rights holders, have indicated plans for the FIA TCR World Tour to return to the Bathurst International race in 2025.

There is so far no information issued from WSC on a potential replacement for the Australian rounds in 2024.
