BTCC officially launches 2024 season at Donington Park

The British Touring Car Championship has announced its official line-up for the forthcoming season after launching its 2024 campaign at Donington Park.

Reigning champions Alliance Racing top the billing with four-time title winner Ash Sutton looking to become the first driver in the series’ long history to win the Drivers’ Championship on five separate occasions. Sutton is joined at the Ford Focus ST squad by Dan Cammish, Dan Rowbottom and Sam Osborne.

EXCELR8 Motorsport have also named an unchanged line-up for the new season with last year’s runner-up Tom Ingram spearheading the Hyundai i30 charge. Alongside the former champion will be Tom Chilton, Ronan Pearson and Nick Halstead.

Significant developmental work has been undertaken at West Surrey Racing during the off-season, all with the aim of delivering championship glory back to the BMW outfit. Jake Hill and Colin Turkington – who is also targeting a fifth crown – will lead the team alongside Adam Morgan. The vacant fourth seat could still be filled as well.

Speedworks Motorsport has expanded its operation to four cars this year and welcomed former FIA World Touring Car Championship title winner Rob Huff back to the BTCC on a full-time basis after two decades. Huff will partner Andrew Watson on the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK side of the team while Josh Cook and Aiden Moffat will run under the LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ banner.

Power Maxed Racing will have their sights set on clinching Independent Championship honours this year as they stick with the Vauxhall Astra, Aron Taylor-Smith and Mikey Doble. They’re set to face opposition for honours from Restart Racing, who will make their debut in the series this year with Chris Smiley and Scott Sumpton in a pair of Cupra Leons.

Completing the entry list is Unlimited Motorsport, who are fielding a Cupra Leon for series returnee Daryl Deleon.

This year will see a number of revisions take place in the BTCC including an increase in hybrid power and the introduction of a brand-new qualifying format titled the ‘Quick Six’.

The 2024 season will also break new ground with every race being broadcast live around the world on ITV Sport’s official TikTok account.
