Exion Racing expands to six cars for 2024 STCC season

Exion Racing will expand its operation to run three BMWs and three Volkswagens for the 2024 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season.

“The whole team is highly motivated for the task and I bring the experience from last year’s season with Team Auto Lounge where we competed with four cars in TCR Denmark,” said team manager and former STCC driver Kevin Engman.

“We are a young team that lacks the experience of our competitors, but we will work methodically towards our ultimate goal of challenging for the absolute top.”

The team had originally announced to field three BMW i4s but will now add three Volkswagen ID.3s from new headquarters at the Ljungbyhed circuit in southern Sweden.

The team’s first confirmed driver is Calle Bergman who made his STCC debut for the team in 2022, finishing 12th overall.

“I feel really excited to finally make my electric STCC debut after last year’s delays,” said Bergman, who will drive a BMW.

“The feeling in the team is really good with our expansion and new venture. We still have a lot to learn, but I don’t doubt for a second that we will take big steps forward during the season. Personally, my goal is to score points and slowly but surely move towards the top and be able to challenge for the top five.”

The team has announced that its first Volkswagen driver will be unveiled next week.
