Brink and Karlsson tops first electric STCC test days at Mantorp

Brink Motorsport drivers Tobias Brink and Mikael Karlsson topped the first two official STCC test days of the new electric era at Mantorp Park.

The first day saw the field driving on the longer 3125m version of Mantorp while the short 1950m version was used for day two.

Tesla driver Karlsson was fastest during the first day with 1:26.562, beating Exion BMW driver Oliver Söderström by 0.142 seconds.

Söderström is yet to sign for Exion Racing and took part in the test day as an evaluation for a potential full-season drive in 2024.

Karlsson’s team-mate Brink was third fastest ahead of 2022 champion Robert Dahlgren who was fastest of the Cupra Born drivers, 0.158 seconds from the top time.

Jimmy Eriksson (Tesla) and Calle Bergman (BMW) rounded off the top six on day one, 0.207 and 0.230 seconds from Karlsson’s time.

The second day saw Brink topping the times when on the short version of the circuit which the championship is likely to run on for the race later this year.

Brink beat Brink Motorsport team-mate Jimmy Eriksson by just 73 thousands of a second.

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia champion Ola Nilsson was third fastest, taking part in the test for Exion Racing as an evaluation for a potential drive.

Söderström was fourth fastest on day two while Dahlgren remained in fifth place, leading PWR Racing team-mates Axel Bengtsson and Anton Marklund, three, five and seven tenths behind respectively.

Next up for the STCC field is another two official test days at Ljungbyhed Park on May 21-22.
