SP Compétition confirms TCR World Tour programme

SP Compétition will debut in the TCR World Tour in 2025 after confirming plans to run a two-car Cupra programme for John Filippi and Aurélien Comte.

Filippi, who was the first driver from a regional championship to score an outright World Tour victory, will return to the series after competing in an Audi last year and reunites with the Cupra brand he represented earlier in his career.

“A new team, a new car, but still the same ambition,” he said, “to fight at the front and hear the Marseillaise playing at the circuits around the world!”

Comte meanwhile will be sticking with the team – and the Cupra VZ TCR – for another season.

“After having raced in TCR since I won the European Cup back in 2017, I feel like a veteran,” he said. “I return to the international scene more determined than ever.”

WSC president Marcello Lotti meanwhile expressed his pleasure at seeing the team confirm a move into the World Tour for 2025.

“I’m delighted to see SP Compétition bringing the Cupra brand for the first time in a full season of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour,” he said.

“The Leon VZ has already proved competitive in many TCR series and I’m sure its potential will help the team and his strong pair of drivers to make an impact from the start.”
