Ronan Pearson to miss Oulton Park due to commercial challenges

Ronan Pearson will miss this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship meeting at Oulton Park this weekend due to unexpected commercial challenges.

The Scotsman joined Speedworks Motorsport at the start of the season and has often been the lead runner for the Toyota Corolla squad, tallying seven points finishes and one appearance in Quick Six qualifying.

Sadly, the 23-year-old has encountered unexpected commercial challenges in the run up to the fifth meeting of the season and will forgo the event.

Pearson’s replacement to join Gordon Shedden, Aron Taylor-Smith and James Dorlin is expected to be announced on Thursday.

“We are very sorry that Ronan will not be racing with us this weekend – all the more so given it is the event we look forward to the most, with Oulton Park being our home track,” said Christian Dick, Speedworks Motorsport Team Principal.

“Ronan has been a key member of the team since joining us back at the beginning of the year, and has demonstrated his speed and skill in the Corolla on numerous occasions.

“Sadly, in this day and age, commercial considerations often speak loudest and while both sides have explored every feasible option, we ultimately had to accept that it will be impossible for Ronan to be in the car at Oulton.”
