Joaquín Cafaro to make TCR South America debut

Joaquín Cafaro will make his debut in TCR South America during the upcoming events in Uruguay after inking a deal to join PMO Racing.

Cafaro will be at the wheel of a Peugeot 308 TCR for the meetings at the Autódromo Municipal de Mercedes and in El Pinar, having previously raced in the Super Turismo championship in his homeland and then in what was previously known as Turismo Nacional.

The youngster will use his two outings as preparation for what he hopes will be a full-time move into the series in the future.

“I’ll be competing in both Uruguayan races in the TCR South America,” he said. “It’s truly something very exciting for me, something new, a category I’ve always looked forward to because I liked the concept itself.

“Knowing that you’re competing with the same tools used in the world championship and in other regions of the world. I think that could open doors in the future, so I’m very happy to be present now representing Uruguay in these two races, one in Mercedes and the other at El Pinar.

“We hope for good weekends, along with the Peugeot 308 GTI of the champion PMO Racing team. I think we’ll be strong, and I hope we can perform very well.”
