Victories for Zhang and Zhu as Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport dominate Ordos
Jason Zhang and David Zhu claimed one win each in the TCR China race weekend at Ordos as Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport claimed a double 1-2-3.
Zhu started from pole position in the first race but was beaten into the first corner by team-mate Zhang.
Hyundai driver Zhang Zhen Dong made a strong start from third on the grid and passed Zhu as well.
But Zhu was able to fight back a couple of laps later to claim second place.
There was one safety car interruption during the race to recover the stranded Honda of Leong Keng Hei.
As the racing had resumed, Zhang Zhen Dong lost one position to Sunny Wong (Lynk & Co) as a driveshaft broke on the final lap.
Zhang won the race by over four seconds over Zhu while Wong was just below six seconds behind in third.
Zhang Zhen Dong came home in fourth while Wu Yifan (Audi) rounded off the top five for 326 Racing Team.
Paul Poon (Lynk & Co) started the second race from pole but was beaten at the start by team-mate Sunny Wong.
The safety car was soon out on track following a multi-car incident between Wu Yifan,
Liu Hong Zhi and Li Guang Hua. The first two retired while Li Guang Hua was able to continue to finish the race in fourth.
Soon after the restart, Zhu and Zhang were able to get past Teamwork Motorsport team-mates Poon and Wong, demoting them to finish fifth and third respectively.
Zhu won the race with a margin of four seconds over Zhang while Wong was third, just under nine seconds behind.
Li Guang Hua and Poon made it a Lynk & Co 1-2-3-4-5.
Zhang Zhen Dong was best of the rest in sixth place for Z.Speed N Hyundai.
Zhang heads the standings by just one point over team-mate Zhu, with Zhang Zhen Dong third, five points from the lead.
The next TCR China race takes place in Shanghai on September 20-21.
