Juan Ángel Rosso takes commanding victory at Curvelo

Paladini Racing’s Juan Ángel Rosso scored the victory in Race 2 at Curvelo, host of the seventh round of the 2025 TCR South America season.

Rosso overtook polesitter Leonardo Reis at the start to claim the lead, with Fabián Yannantuoni settling in third place, followed by Genaro Rasetto and Raphael Reis.

Race 1 winner Tiago Pernía, who started from tenth place on the reverse grid, recovered positions to climb to eighth place on lap three, followed by his team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr.

The positions at the front remained close, with the leading trio now joined by Leonel Pernía, who overtook Raphael Reis for fourth position on lap three.

Celso Neto stopped on the track on lap four, with the Brazilian managing to limp back to the pits without a caution being needed.

Piquet Jr. overtook Tiago Pernía for eighth place on lap seven, as the pair tried to close the gap to Pedro Cardoso, two seconds ahead.

The positions remained stable at the front, with Leonardo Reis keeping within half-a-second from Rosso, and Yannantuoni close behind.

Reis upped his challenge on Rosso in the closing stages of the race, but the Lynk & Co driver managed to stay ahead to claim the victory, with Reis and Yannantuoni completing the podium.

Leonel Pernía was fourth, followed by Raphael Reis and Pedro Cardoso. Tiago Pernía overtook Piquet Jr. in the closing stages for seventh place. Genaro Rasetto was ninth, with Adrian Chiriano completing the top ten.

“It was a very good race, I knew that the only spot to overtake Leonardo (Reis) was at the start, it’s very difficult to overtake here, so my opportunity was then,” Rosso said after the race.

After the seventh round of the season at Curvelo, Leonel Pernía has extended his lead in the championship with 462 points, with Piquet Jr. 112 points behind and Pedro Cardoso 123 points adrift.

The next round of the 2025 TCR South America is scheduled for the 24-26th of October at Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).
