George Jaxon makes CUPRA switch
George Jaxon will switch into his third different car of the TCR UK season when the campaign resumes at Snetterton after announcing a move into a brand new CUPRA Leon VZ TCR.
Jaxon started the year in a Gen1 Volkswagen Golf before upgrading to a Gen2 Audi RS3 LMS at Donington Park, but will now become the latest driver to race a Leon VZ in the series as he focuses on his long-term plans to compete in the series.
“I’ve enjoyed my first season back in TCR UK, and I’m thrilled to have made steps forward with each race weekend,” he said. “Whilst I have enjoyed driving the Audi Gen 2 car, it’s clear to me that the VZ TCR is more suited to UK circuits and that is the way forward for me.
“I made my commitment to racing in TCR UK earlier this year, and purchasing the VZ is the next step in my long-term plans. Snetterton and Brands Hatch will provide me with a chance to learn more about the car, ahead of my planned full-time entry for the 2026 season.”
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines was pleased to hear news of Jaxon’s decision to invest in the new car.
“George has already shown impressive improvement in his first season back in TCR UK at the wheel of the Audi, so it’s good to see another new TCR car join the grid for Snetterton and beyond,” he said.
“As we reach the penultimate event of the 2025 season, drivers and teams are already looking ahead to the 2026 season. I’m very happy to see George planning to be back with the VZ to return full-time next year, and I wish him all the best in the final two events of this season.”
