Néstor Girolami claims second win of 2025 in The Bend finale
Néstor Girolami controlled the final joint FIA TCR World Tour and TCR Australia race of the weekend at The Bend in Australia to claim his second win of the season.
The Argentinian Hyundai driver started second but made an impressive move around the outside of reversed grid pole sitter Aurélien Comte to claim a lead he was to hold for the rest of the race.
Comte then came under fire from the Honda duo of Esteban Guerrieri and Ignacio Montenegro.
Guerrieri managed to get past Comte for second place on lap two, a move allowing GOAT Racing team-mate Montenegro to snatch the final podium slot from the Cupra driver a corner later.
Thed Björk let his Lynk & Co Cyan Racing team-mate and points leader Yann Ehrlacher past for sixth place at the start of lap six.
The BRC Hyundai duo of Norbert Michelisz and Mikel Azcona swapped places on lap seven for the Spaniard to try and pass Ma Qing Hua in the battle for eighth place.
Azcona was however unable to get past the Chinese Lynk & Co driver and handed ninth place back to Michelisz on the final lap.
Girolami won the race with a margin of 1.4 seconds ahead of Guerrieri while Montenegro was three seconds behind in third.
Comte finished fourth ahead of TCR Australia winner Josh Buchan in fifth.
Points leader Ehrlacher came home in sixth ahead of his Cyan Racing team-mates Björk and Ma. Michelisz and Azcona rounded off the top ten, with Santiago Urrutia trying his best to pass Azcona on the last lap, but having to settle for eleventh.
Ehrlacher continues in the lead, 36 points ahead of Guerrieri and 53 points ahead of Björk. Urrutia is fourth (-71) and Michelisz is fifth (-98).
The next FIA TCR World Tour race takes place at Inje Speedium in South Korea on October 17-19.
