Thed Björk “really happy” to stay in title fight

Thed Björk was the man to beat in the FIA TCR World Tour weekend at Inje Speedium in South Korea this weekend, securing a win, two podiums, a pole position and has closed in on team-mate Yann Ehrlacher in the title fight.

“The car felt great, and I could keep the pace all the time,” said Björk.

“I had so much pace over the weekend and that just continued to the very end today. Looking ahead, I’m really happy to be in the position to keep fighting for the championship.”

The Swedish driver headed into the weekend 53 points behind his Cyan Racing team-mate and left it 42 points behind.

There are 150 points left to fight for in the remaining two race weekends and question is whether Björk will be allowed to fight Ehrlacher as he let his team-mate past in the second race of the weekend on the final lap.

“Firstly, thanks to Thed for letting me pass on the last lap,” said Ehrlacher.

“Yes, of course there are some internal team orders going on, but we had an amazing pace. And I’m just trying to survive with the 30kgs of CW.

“It’s not easy with the elevation changes of this circuit. I was very lucky to have my teammates supporting me because I would have been nowhere without them.”

Ehrlacher had a consistent weekend in South Korea, bringing home two second-place finishes and a fourth place.

“I feel very happy about the weekend,” said Ehrlacher.

“We need still to learn things to make progress for China because the season is not over yet. I think there is some stuff we can optimize in our package and in myself as well.”
