Lewis Kent returns to chase third TCR UK title

Lewis Kent will look to fight for a third TCR UK title after confirming that he will make a return to the grid for the 2026 season.

Kent won the title in both 2020 and 2021 when TCR UK formed part of the Touring Car Trophy, scoring both of his championships at the wheel of a Hyundai i30 N TCR run by the Essex & Kent Motorsport team.

Having then campaigned a Hyundai Veloster in 2022, Kent joined the Civic Cup mid-way through 2023 before two full seasons in the series ended with victory in the recent Brands Hatch season finale.

Kent’s return to TCR competition will see him join forces with series newcomers SVG Motorsport and get behind the wheel of a Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

“I’m really excited about the upcoming season with SVG Motorsport and the Lynk & Co,” he said. “I think the 2026 season will be one of TCR UK’s strongest years yet, and I can’t wait to start this new venture with a fresh team and a fresh car.

“Hopefully we’ll enjoy plenty of success along the way.” said Lewis.

SVG team owner Andy Johnson said he felt confident that Kent was the right person to spearhead the debut campaign in the series.

“We feel that this is a very strong driver/car combination,” he said. “Combined with a winter test programme already in place, we feel that SVG Motorsport have a very strong package for our assault on our 2026 debut TCR UK campaign.

“Given his history, Lewis is exactly the kind of driver we’ve been looking for to join SVG Motorsport for our debut season.”
