Two-horse title showdown next up on the streets of Macau

Team-mates Yann Ehrlacher and Thed Björk are the only two drivers with a shot at the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour title which will be decided on the legendary streets of Macau this weekend.

The Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers are separated by 34 points ahead of this weekend with a total of 75 points available, as Frenchman Ehrlacher heads the table.

Björk has gained 19 points on Ehrlacher over the past two race weekends, despite having conceded one position to his team-mate in the second race at Inje Speedium.

But the gap of just below half of the points available from the season finale means that Björk is facing a tough task to challenge Ehrlacher. With that said, both drivers know that if there is one place where things can turn around quickly, it’s Macau.

Both Lynk & Co 03 TCR drivers will carry 30kg of compensation weight this weekend.

Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri was the last driver who saw his title hopes disappear in the previous round at Zhuzhou and the GOAT Racing driver has endured a troublesome second season half with inconsistent performance.

Guerrieri has instead found himself threatened by Cyan Racing’s Santiago Urrutia who is 20 points behind in fourth.

The Argentinian driver will however run without compensation weight this weekend and get support from GOAT Racing team manager Pepe Oriola on track, as the Spaniard makes his racing return.

Cupra driver Aurélien Comte enjoyed a spectacular penultimate round in China with two victories and is joined by Macau expert Max Hart this weekend. It should be noted that the Frenchman will carry the maximum of 40kg of compensation weight in Macau.

The BRC Hyundai drivers have endured an anonymous season, with reigning champion Norbert Michelisz dropping down to sixth place overall after the previous round as the Italian team’s best placed driver.

The Hyundai drivers have however always been competitive on the streets of Macau and will run light on compensation weight, with Mikel Azcona carrying 20kg, Michelisz 10kg and Néstor Girolami 0kg.

The preliminary Macau Guia entry list featured 24 cars, a list which has shrunk to 19 cars.

Gone from the list are JSB Compétition driver Raphaël Fournier, the two Solite Indigo Racing drivers Junui and Junesung Park, one of the Z.Speed N MAS Hyundais and Sean Chang Chien Shang of RevX Racing.

The season finale starts with two free practice sessions on Thursday, qualifying on Friday, the first race on Saturday and the final race of 2025 on Sunday.
