WSC on TCR Denmark closure: “We have immediately started to take action”

Last week saw TCR Denmark promoter Touring car Denmark ApS announcing that it will step down after 2025 and WSC, the TCR rights holder, is currently in negotiations with “different groups” for the whole Nordic region.

“We are obviously sorry about the decision taken by Touring car Denmark ApS of stepping down from the role of TCR Denmark’s promoter, especially after the good collaboration we have had for several years, but we can understand the reasons,” said WSC head Marcello Lotti to TouringCarTimes.

Touring car Denmark ApS has promoted TCR Denmark since its launch in 2020 and had a strong start with close to 20 full-season entries in 2021.

But the last couple of years have seen declining numbers, with 2025 featuring just five full-season entries.

With TCR Scandinavia closing its doors in 2022, TCR Denmark’s closure means that the Nordic region is currently without a TCR championship – something WSC is keen to change.

“We have immediately started to take action and evaluate new options that would involve the whole Nordic region where there are a good number of TCR cars,” said Lotti.

“We are already negotiating with different groups interested in taking over the promotion.
It’s too early a stage to unveil details, but we will be able to do so soon.”
