Thed Björk: “To win the championship you have to be clever”

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Thed Björk finished third in qualifying for the FIA TCR World Tour season finale, just one position behind his team-mate and championship rival Yann Ehrlacher.

“First of all, congratulations to ‘Bebu’, I was in his position last year and the adrenaline you get from that is crazy,” Björk told TouringCarTimes.

Ehrlacher settled ahead of Björk early in the final qualifying session, with the 2017 WTCC champion unable to close the three-tenths gap to his team-mate despite one extra attempt.

“I saw that Yann was pushing with everything,” said Björk.

“I was expecting more, but Yann has been really clever, and to win the championship you have to be clever and not just risk everything, so I have a big respect for Yann.”

Björk now trails his team-mate by 36 points with 60 points remaining from the two races of the weekend.

“I think the races will be quite exciting, let’s see what we can do,” said Björk.
