Thed Björk: “I want to come back and fight again”
2017 touring car world champion Thed Björk had to concede the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour drivers’ title fight after finishing behind his team-mate Yann Ehrlacher the first race of the Macau season finale weekend.
The Swede had qualified in third place on the grid, got a strong start but could not get past the drivers in front of him and instead fell down to fifth place on the first lap.
“I did a really good start, but I got boxed in, because it’s so tight into Turn 1, so I had to lift and lost momentum, and others caught me up,” Björk said to TouringCarTimes.
The Lynk & Co driver still remains positive about the outcome of the season and being a title contender until the last round of the year.
“But it’s not the championship only in this race, but rather the whole championship that you have to look at,” the Swede said.
“I’m now in second position, because Yann also had problems, so now I’m happy for the team.”
Björk feels that he is still performing strong as a driver and remains confident of being able to continue fighting for the title in the coming years.
“Still, you shouldn’t count me out. Because I have had now two second places two years in a row, still feeling super fast, so I want to come back and fight again,” said Björk.
“So this an extra motivation.”
