Geely to join FIA TCR World Tour with Cyan Racing
The Geely name will appear in TCR competition for the first time next season after Cyan Racing announced plans to campaign the Geely Preface in the 2026 FIA TCR World Tour.
“Today marks a key milestone for Cyan Racing and we are delighted to evolve our successful and longstanding cooperation with Geely,” Christian Dahl, founder and owner of Cyan Racing said.
“The fact that we will start our 30th consecutive year of automotive manufacturer cooperation is deeply motivating for all members of Cyan Racing, as we embark the journey with Geely to once again challenge the world’s best in touring car racing.”
The Swedish team has entered into what is being termed a ‘multi-year co-operation’ that will see it design and build a racing version of the Geely Preface, a four-door saloon that was first revealed in 2020 and has been on sale in Asia since 2021 with more than 690 000 sold units.
“This is an important milestone for Geely. The Geely car brand of Geely Auto Group is our first and largest domestic brand founded in 1997 and it is now expanding internationally. We believe that the TCR World Tour is an ideal way to showcase the Geely car brand, its products and its technology to car fans and consumers around the world” said Victor Yang, Senior Vice President of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
The introduction of the Geely brand will mean Cyan Racing embarks on a 30th successive year working alongside a manufacturer, with previous programmes with Volvo, Polestar and Lynk & Co, resulting in multiple championship titles.
That includes both the drivers’ and teams’ titles in the TCR World Tour this year, having wrapped up both championship crowns in Macau.
Work on the new cars is already underway ahead of the first model being revealed in early 2026.
No drivers have been confirmed for the programme, whilst there has also been no word as to how many Geely models will be on the grid.
“This is a thoroughly inspiring and challenging project to tackle, adding to Cyan Racing’s proud history of successful in-house developed race cars such as the Volvo S60 TC1, Fredrik Wahlén, CEO and Team Manager of Cyan Racing.
“We have already started design and construction of the new Geely Preface TCR race car at our headquarters in Sweden. We have a tight schedule which is proceeding according to plan and our aim is for the first Geely Preface TCR to make its track debut at the beginning of the new year.”
