Néstor Girolami makes TCR South America switch with Hyundai MSA

Néstor Girolami will switch to TCR South America with Hyundai MSA after two FIA TCR World Tour seasons with BRC Hyundai.

“For me, it is a great challenge to return to racing in South America representing Hyundai officially,” said Girolami.

“Factory-backed projects are very important to me, and in this case, coming back to South American motorsport — which has grown significantly in recent years — is a very exciting challenge that comes at a moment in my career when I have a lot of experience and maturity.”

The Argentinian will race one of the four Hyundai Elantra N TCRs of the newly founded Hyundai MSA team this year.

“For us as a team, it is a great joy to have Néstor Girolami, with all the experience he has worldwide,” said Damián Fineschi, Hyundai MSA team director.

“He comes to race in South America on circuits he already knows very well, as he was part of the most important categories in Argentina and Brazil. I had the opportunity to work with him in the world championship as his performance engineer.

“It is a great satisfaction to count on him, and it raises our standards to be front-runners together with Hyundai. I thank Néstor, Hyundai and our entire team for the effort they have made to start this TCR South America Banco BRB season with expectations at the highest level.”

Girolami made his world touring car debut in 2015 for Nika International, then joining Polestar Cyan Racing for 2016 and 2017.

The following year saw Girolami returning to Super TC2000 with Peugeot and then returned to the international stage in 2018 with Münnich Motorsport Honda where he stayed until 2022.

The Argentinian’s best result came during his last year with Münnich Motorsport, finishing second overall with two victories.

“I hope to have a strong start to the year and fight for the championship. I believe it will be a very competitive season for the category, where it will surely be difficult, but we will be up to the task to fight for the title,” said Girolami.

The Hyundai MSA team has so far confirmed two team-mates to Girolami in the form of Diego Ciantini and Camilo Trappa.

The 2026 TCR South America season starts on March 7-8 at Don Cristais in Brazil, check out the so far confirmed entries at the TouringCarTimes Grid Projections.

The BRC Hyundai team meanwhile is yet to announce its plans for the 2026 FIA TCR World Tour season.
