Ash Sutton doubles up in Donington Park finale
Ash Sutton made it two wins from three races at Donington Park to close out the opening weekend of the 2026 British Touring Car Championship season.
Hot on the heels of winning race two, the four-time champion made it back-to-back wins at the Leicestershire venue as he rose from eighth on the grid to win ahead of XX XX and XX
Ricky Collard started the reverse grid contest on pole position and battled valiantly at the front of the field during the early exchanges. Despite fending off the advances of Charles Rainford, the Hyundai driver could do nothing to stop Sutton.
Charging onto the back of Collard within a number of laps, the four-time champion soon found his way past however he didn’t pull clear immediately, with Collard keeping him honest.
Dan Cammish and Tom Ingram – who had come from the back of the grid after two non-scores – soon loomed large in the mirrors of Collard.
Cammish was the first to attempt to find a way past the series returnee however he found his path blocked by Collard, and that therefore opened the door for reigning champion Ingram to climb up to second.
From that moment on, Sutton and Ingram streaked clear to finish first and second with Cammish originally getting the better of Collard on-track. That was until he was handed a ten-second time penalty for exceeding track limits.
That ensured Collard rounded off the podium while Aiden Moffat and Charles Rainford completed the top five.
Dexter Patterson capped off a fine weekend in sixth with Chris Smiley, Adam Morgan, Sam Osborne and the penalised Cammish completing the top ten.
