Ash Sutton: “What a difference 24 hours makes”
Ash Sutton was left over the moon after enjoying a near-perfect day in the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park.
After failing to finish Saturday’s inaugural Qualifying Race, the Alliance Racing driver carved his way from the back of the grid in race two to finish second.
The Ford Focus Titanium driver then closed out proceedings claiming back-to-back wins and with it, the championship lead.
“What a difference 24 hours make,” said Sutton. “When I was sat in the gravel trap in that Qualifying Race two wins and a second place seemed very far away.
“The entire NAPA Racing UK team gave me a phenomenal car. We didn’t make too many changes overnight and the car came alive from the moment we got started this morning.
“Two wins and a second place is an incredible weekend anyway, but to have been started in dead last at the start of race one makes it that little bit more special.
“We’ve banked some solid points but I’m well aware that it’s gonna fluctuate as the years go on, especially with the introduction of the new qualifying race. It’s a good start and we’ll look to build on things at Brands Hatch.”
