Tom Ingram claims pole position for Brands Hatch Qualifying Race

Tom Ingram will start the British Touring Car Championship’s second Qualifying Race of the season from pole position after topping the times in qualifying at Brands Hatch.

The EXCLER8 Motorsport driver set the pace in Group 1, with his best time of 47.310s being enough to clinch a front-row start for this afternoon’s 18-lap encounter around the Kent circuit.

Alliance Racing’s Dan Cammish had set the benchmark time in Group 2 but ultimately fell just short of the overall fastest time that was posted by the reigning champion and will therefore line up in second place.

As per the series’ new format for this season, the group with the pole-setting lap time will occupy the odd-numbered grid positions for the Qualifying Race, while the other group occupy the even-numbered grid positions. Both are ordered by their qualifying times.

Starting third on the grid will be WSR driver Daryl De Leon, while Ingram’s Hyundai team-mate Ricky Collard and championship leader Ash Sutton will line up fourth and fifth respectively.

Launching off the grid from sixth will be the Plato Racing’s Adam Morgan, ahead of Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble, his Audi team-mate Dexter Patterson, Tom Chilton and the lead Toyota off Aron Taylor-Smith.

The BTCC’s Brands Hatch Qualifying Race is scheduled to commence at 15:05 and can be viewed via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Rjuzi4EV3c.
