Ash Sutton delighted to further extend standings advantage

Ash Sutton has shared his delight after enjoying another flawless weekend in the British Touring Car Championship, one that saw him extend his advantage in the standings to 47 points.

“It’s been another incredible weekend,” he said. “I keep saying it but the car is phenomenal. I’m in a really good place with the car and in general, I feel like I’m driving as well as ever.”

The Alliance Racing driver arrived at Brands Hatch sitting 18 points ahead however victory in the Qualifying Race, Race 1 and then a brace of second place finishes meant that he was able to strengthen his lead.

“We’ve obviously had a really good start to the season but it is still early days. We’re on a high at the moment and we’re rolling with the punches,” said Sutton.

“Ignore the Qualifying Race at Donington Park and we’ve finished no lower than second, which is quite something. That last race all the work was done at the start, and although we got caught up some incidents, we managed to hold on.

“It’s been a mega start to the season and to be going to Snetterton with the lead we have is pretty mighty. Obviously going to Snetterton with little to no boost is going to present its own challenges but we’ll make the best of it and aim to maximise the weekend.”
