Tom Ingram wins frenetic Brands Hatch finale

Tom Ingram claimed his first win of the season in the British Touring Car Championship finale at Brands Hatch, while Mikey Doble and Ash Sutton completed the podium.

Bringing the curtain down on a frenetic weekend at the Kent circuit, the reigning champion rose from fifth on the grid to first within a handful of laps and once out front, he never looked back.

Restart Racing’s James Dorlin started on pole position but on the medium tyre, his chances of remaining out front was always going to be difficult. His task was made even more difficult when Sutton enjoyed a flying start to rise from seventh to joint first as the field streamed up to Druids.

Dorlin was able to fend off Sutton and in doing so, backed him into Ingram who opened the door at Clearways. After moving up to second, Ingram then quickly hunted down Dorlin and took a lead that he never looked like losing.

Behind, Power Maxed Racing’s Doble managed to pass both Dorlin and Sutton in one swoop a few laps later but the Audi driver couldn’t shake four-time title winner Sutton, who managed to fight back later on.

Sutton then moved on to secure yet another second place finish with Doble third and Daryl De Leon in fourth. Josh Cook, who had started on the front row of the grid, was fifth ahead of the charging Adam Morgan in the Plato Racing Mercedes.

Completing the top ten was the battling Gordon Shedden, Dorlin, Aron Taylor-Smith and Aiden Moffat.
