Charles Rainford: “I’m really happy with that win”

Charles Rainford enjoyed a Super Saturday at Snetterton after he charged to victory in the third British Touring Car Championship Qualifying Race of the season.

The WSR driver lined up second on the grid for the eight-lap contest and by the midpoint of the opening lap he was ahead, following a captivating wheel-to-wheel battle with pole sitter Tom Chilton.

Once out front, the BMW 330i M Sport driver enjoyed a trouble-free run to the chequered flag – which in-turn means that he now starts race one tomorrow from pole position.

“I’m really happy with that,” said Rainford. “We were in control and I was never going to do anything silly. I was basically waiting for the tyres to go off on the front-wheel-drive cars and when that happened at about mid-distance, I was able to bring it home.

“I sat down with my engineer Dan (Millard) after practice and we discussed how we can turn this around. We came together and turned it into a rocket ship.

“I think it’s going to be car cover on tonight, don’t change a thing and then away we go tomorrow.”
