Tom Chilton to start Snetterton Qualifying Race from pole

Tom Chilton will start this afternoon’s British Touring Car Championship Qualifying Race from pole position after topping the times in qualifying at Snetterton.

The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver was the driver to beat in Group 1, with his best time of 1:55.194s being enough to secure first on the grid for the upcoming 8-lap encounter around the Norfolk circuit.

WSR’s Charles Rainford topped the times in Group 2 but was ultimately two tenths of a second slower than Chilton, therefore meaning he will start on the outside of the front-row for the impending contest.

As per the series’ new format for this season, the group with the pole-setting lap time will occupy the odd-numbered grid positions for the Qualifying Race, while the other group occupy the even-numbered grid positions. Both are ordered by their qualifying times.

Starting third on the grid will be Speedworks Motorsport’s Josh Cook, while reigning champion Tom Ingram and Alliance Racing’s Dan Cammish are set to line up in fourth and fifth respectively.

Sixth on the grid is Restart Racing’s James Dorlin, ahead of Plato Racing’s Dan Rowbottom and then championship Ash Sutton, Adam Morgan and Daryl De Leon who round out the top ten.

The BTCC’s Snetterton Qualifying Race is scheduled to commence at 15:05 and can be viewed via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVk6m0xS7_Y
