Jean-Karl Vernay ruled out of Valencia weekend
Jean-Karl Vernay will miss the second round of the TCR World Tour this weekend in Spain after sustaining a foot injury in an accident at home.
The Frenchman had been due to compete in a Cupra León VZ TCR run by the SP Compétition team having joined the grid for his first world touring car season since 2021.
Having scored a best finish of ninth at Misano, Vernay was looking to try and break into the top ten in the championship standings but will instead be watching from the sidelines, with the injury also set to rule him out of his home event at Paul Ricard.
“It was an ordinary incident, as I fell from the stairs, but I broke my external malleolus,” he said. “It was the first time in my life that I break a bone!.
“Luckily the doctors said that I’m young and fit, and so things are proceeding well and fast. I will have the next Xray check on the 23rd of June, and after a few days I should be able to start the rehabilitation.
“My target is to be ready to race at Vila Real.”
