Tom Ingram tops the timesheets in Donington Park practice

Tom Ingram was the ultimate pace-setter in the sole free practice session for the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park, finishing a tenth of a second ahead of Mikey Doble.

Returning to the Leicestershire circuit for the second time this season – albeit this time to take on the longer Grand Prix layout – the EXCELR8 driver hit the top of the times late on, with his time of 1:33.490s being the benchmark to beat.

Power Maxed Racing’s Doble emerged as the closest challenger to the reigning champion as he guided his Audi A3 Saloon to second overall, narrowly ahead of CPRL’s Dan Rowbottom, who was classified in third.

WSR’s Charles Rainford had occupied top spot on the timesheets early doors but ultimately dropped to fourth, narrowly ahead of the second CPRL Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloon machine of Adam Morgan.

Brands Hatch race winner Aron Taylor-Smith was the lead Toyota Corolla entrant in sixth, 0.004s ahead of championship leader Ash Sutton in his Alliance Racing-run Ford Focus Titanium.

Completing the top ten was the Hyundai duo of Ricky Collard and Tom Chilton, and Josh Cook, who recovered from a mechanical issue early on to post the tenth fastest time overall in his Speedworks Motorsport machine.

Further down the order, Daniel Lloyd marked his return to the series by setting the 17th fastest time in the Restart Racing Hyundai i30. The reigning Independents’ champion will see out the remainder of the campaign having replaced James Dorlin.

Qualifying at Donington Park is scheduled to begin at 14:05 this afternoon, prior to the Qualifying Race which is due to begin at 15:05.
