Ash Sutton in the box seat leaving Donington Park
Ash Sutton remains the driver to beat in the British Touring Car Championship after maintaining his advantage at the top of the standings at Donington Park this past weekend.
The Alliance Racing driver – who is pursuing a record-breaking fifth title – entered the seventh meeting of the season holding a 81-point lead over reigning champion Tom Ingram.
Around the Grand Prix circuit, Sutton charged to a pair of second place finishes before closing out his weekend with a drive to eighth in the reverse grid finale. Those results have enabled the Ford Focus Titanium driver to now move to 98 points clear of nearest rival, reigning champion Tom Ingram.
Elsewhere, Alliance Racing / Ford remain the dominant force in the Manufacturer / Constructor Championship, while NAPA Racing UK remain on course for yet another Teams’ Championship title.
In the Independents’ Trophy, Mikey Doble and Power Maxed Racing currently reign supreme in the Drivers’ and Teams’ categories; while fellow Audi A3 Saloon driver Dexter Patterson occupies top spot in the Jack Sears Trophy.
The British Touring Car Championship season continues in less than two weeks’ time at Croft on September 5-6.
